Metropolitan John (Snychev)

Metropolitan of Leningrad and Ladoga John (Snychev; 1927-1995)-one of the brightest personalities in the history of the Russian Orthodox Church of the 20th century. The theologian, historian, publicist, prayer book, wise confessor and shepherd, he spoke loudly about the need to revive the ideals of Holy Rus', that the state structure should have an Orthodox faith with his basis. The voice of Vladyka John sounded in the difficult nineties of the XX century, like an alarm bell, awakening his conscience, and led to the temple, to prayer, to God.
