The new work of Archimandrite Makarii (Veretennikova) is dedicated to the All -Russian Metropolitans of the X -XVI centuries. The author explores the holy ministry of all the principles of the Russian Church from 988 to 1586. This period of time can be called the Metropolitan period, which turned out to be the longest in the history of the Russian Church and preceded the Patriarchal period. At the first stage of its history, the Russian Church was the Metropolitan of the Greek Church, and the Russian metropolitans were supplied by the Patriarchs Constantinople. Subsequently, starting in 1448, the Moscow Primate became autocephalous and are supplied to the All -Russian throne already in Moscow.

The book is equipped with an extensive bibliography and publications of the manuscript heritage of Russian saints - spiritual letters, district messages, words and teachings. < /p>
