Harmered and offended (1860 - 1861) - Dostoevsky’s first big novel, created after returning from the Siberian exile. Written in the era of the extraordinary rise in public life, the work drew the reader's attention to a new problem - the problem of selfishness and isolation of the Russian intelligentsia from the common people - “humiliated and offended”, whose dignity the writer passionately defended and defended. The extraordinary psychological depth and knowledge of the innermost secrets of the human soul is inherent in Dostoevsky’s prose in this novel with lyricism and an exciting, intriguing plot.
“Harmered and offended” attracted many famous directors - Russian and foreign. But neither free, nor even the most literate adaptations and production were able to fully convey the power of the literary original...
