Milished and offended. Dostoevsky F.M.
“Milished and offended” (1861)-the first big novel by Fedor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881). In it, he finally developed the main types of his future heroes and the main plot plots: the naive helplessness of the “weak heart” opposes the cynicism and pride of the “predatory type”. What makes the "predators" create evil? How do they justify themselves? Why enjoy the evil they cause? Is the humble despair of humiliated and offended and is the reason for the indispensable and constant celebration of evil over love, kindness and philanthropy? All these questions tormented the writer from the first works to the end of his creative path.
The enjoyment of the victim with suffering and misfortune is the undisputed and great psychological discovery of Dostoevsky - the philosopher, the artist, and the expert on human souls. The reader can only hope that the heroes of the novel still suffer their happiness, and the world, in spite of everything, will save kindness and love.
