Morphology of a fairy tale. Propp V.Ya.
“Morphology of a fairy tale”, perhaps the most famous work of the 20th century in folklorism, although its significance goes far beyond science: it influenced writers, composers, film scenaries and even programmers and marketers. V. Ya. Propp refuses a purely literary approach to the study of folk art and turns to mathematical methods and structural linguistics.
It turns out that the characters of a variety of fairy tales do the same thing: the serpent abducts the princess, Baba Yaga prepares trials and a reward for Ivan Tsarevich, the magic ball indicates the drog. The hero violates the ban, sets off, finds an assistant and collides with the enemy, solves a difficult task, receives a reward and returns home, where a feast is waiting for him to the whole world, a bride and half a kingdom. Propp describes the laws of a fairy tale story: seven types of characters perform 31 function - it is they who create a single rod and the structure of fairy tales of different peoples of the world.
