Vladimir Voinovich is one of the most interesting Russian writers of the second half of the twentieth century, the creator of the charming and unpretentious Soviet soldier Ivan Chonkin. The trilogy “Life and extraordinary adventures of the soldier Ivan Chonkin” has long become a classic, it can be put on a par with the most outstanding works of domestic and world literature.
In his equally famous novel “Moscow 2042” Vladimir Voinovich portrayed the future capital, where it finally “for the first time in history” built communism, however, so far only in this city. The Moscow Communist Republic (Moskov) is separated from the rest of the country with a high fence with barbed wire, and what is happening on its streets and in the heads of its inhabitants, the reader has to find out from the mouth of the protagonist, writer Vitaly Kartsev, who fell into this fabulous Moscow with the help of a time machine.
The novel was written in 1986 in exile and, according to the author, many of his realities found their unexpected embodiment in modern society.
