Walter Benjamin (1892-1940) is notable for the unusual diversity of the German intellectual culture of the 20th century. Starting with studies on German romanticism, Goethe and the Baroque Theater, he then took up the search for the laws of the development of culture, trying to go from the specific, tangible phenomena of human life, often completely simple and ordinary. Chaplin's comedies, children's books, boulevard newspapers, old photos or Parisian passages - everything became his reason for thought about how culture was arranged. His research on literature, Obeler, Kafka, Proust, Leskov - turned out to be immeasurably wider than traditional literary criticism. The restless nature brought Walter Benjamin in the winter of 1926/1927 to Moscow, with which she played an important role in his fate.
