Putting the order on the beginning of the massive bombing of Moscow in mid -July 1941, Hitler was going to use their Soviet Union with their help, destroying the main administrative, economic and transport center of our country. However, his plan was met by active opposition from fighters, anti -aircraft gunners, fighters of local air defense and civilian population of the city. In August-November 1941, a fierce battle unfolded in the sky above Moscow, which ended in failure for the Luftwaffe. The last bombs fell to the capital in April 1942.
The book discusses the construction of the Air Defense and MPVO Moscow in the pre -war and military period, the role of metro and protective special supports, the evolution of the German "Operational War", in which they were carried out raids on Moscow, the course of hostilities is described. For the first time, specialists were collected together and analyzed numerous documents from different archives and historical materials from both sides and memoirs of participants in the events.
The publication was prepared as part of the project “Moscow under the bombs of 1941–1943.” with the support of the Fund of Presidential Grants.
