laughter is a serious matter. This means that the writer who takes a ridiculous topic is obliged to approach his work seriously. Otherwise, it will not work out funny. Among the domestic masters of laughter, and there are actually few of them (Chekhov, Zoshchenko, Ilf and Petrov plus a dozen names), the name Arkady Averchenko takes one of the honorary places. Contemporaries recalled: "Where is Averchenko - there is laughter, roar, fun...". The same can be said about the readers of the books that have come out of the writer’s pen: where they read Averchenko-there... and further, as in the quote. Because it is really impossible to imagine a person reading Averchenko with a dull, unwinding face.
