Vladimir Leonidovich Durov - the famous Russian and Soviet trainer, the ancestor of the oldest circus dynasty - was born in Moscow a century and a half ago. Vladimir and his brother Anatoly early orphaned were brought up in the family of his godfather, who wanted them to devote themselves to a military career. But the brothers had other plans, and the boys fled from the house and joined the wandering circus, where they mastered the craft of juggles, clowns, acrobats; Vladimir had a chance to work even a “strong man” and a magician.
