Everyone has a strange classmate, whose tricks entertained, amused and, perhaps, scared us at school. The one whom we remember even after many years. After release with it, no one communicates, it dissolves in memory, is stored along with old photo albums and adolescence artifacts. But sometimes we reflect on what happened to him. In the case of one man who grew up in the small town of Ohio, all the media of the world answered this question at once. This happened on July 22, 1991, when Jeffrey Damer was arrested for the murder of 17 young men and adolescents.

“My friend Damer” is an outstanding graphic novel by Derfa Backerf, the holder of awards for political comics. On these pages, Bacderf is trying to understand the future serial killer, with whom he studied together, spent time at breaks, drove by car. He is born a portrait of a deeply ill young man, unsuccessfully struggling with terrible desires rising from the dark corners of his soul. Dammer throughout the world is considered an inhuman monster, but here he is depicted by lonely strange - even too human. A shy guy who, with complete ignorance from adults, irrevocably dragged on madness.
