Mysteries. Gamsun K.
Knut Hamsun is a recognized classic of Norwegian literature, the 1920 Nobel Prize laureate. Gamsun brought the world fame to Gamsun’s novel “Hunger” (1890), who struck readers with an innovative style and courage. The novel “Mystery” was created after “Hunger” and, according to the writer, was supposed to make a coup in Norwegian literature. Its plot is very characteristic of Hamsun’s prose: an extraordinary young man arrives in a small town with an old philistine way of life, whose attitude to life and love is very far from generally accepted morality. The Mysterys had a tremendous success and influenced many writers of the twentieth century, including Henry Miller, who wrote: “There are few books in the world that I can constantly return to, and one of them is the Hamsun“ Mysteries ”...” < p>
into Russian, the novel was translated by Lilian Lungina.
