, without any exaggeration, it can be argued that the novel “Mythogenic Love of Cast” Sergei Anufriev and Pavel Pepperstein, who was published on the border of the nineties and zero years, revolutionized Russian -speaking prose and became a cult (if not “cult”) text of several generations. The novel caused literally a flurry of various reviews and printed reviews, from the most enthusiastic and up to extremely angry and dismissive. The authors were called both “Russian Tolkien” and “Russian Burrose”. Some critics claimed that this novel is an array of uncontrolled nonsense, others - that this is the greatest work, which is a new “war and peace” on the border of two millennia. Roman really managed to become a model of “mythogenicity” - not to count those rumors and legends that roam around this epic. Hundreds of texts from comic sketches to deep philosophical treatises were written about the novel. Now, after more than twenty years since its birth, the novel, on the one hand, has long been a classic, on the other, it continues to provoke fierce disputes and discussions. But the majority converge in the opinion: if their Hollywood will ever appear in Russia, the “Mythogenic Love of Cast” will become an analogue of such universes as “DC”, “Marvel” and “Game of Thrones”.
