The book “Nansen in the photographs” is dedicated to the first journey “Fram” in 1893-1896 and covers the period of preparation for the epic expedition from 1890 until the completion of the lecture tour of Fritiof Nansen in 1897.

The book was based on all the well -known photographs taken on time of the expedition, as well as excerpts from Nansen's diaries and seven members His teams, describing the circumstances in which these photographs were shot. Many diaries only in 2021 were first published in Norwegian. And thus, the history of the expedition is told using diary quotes for the first time translated into Russian. History appears before the reader in the form of diary entries and newspaper reports. In addition, the book has chapters on the preparation of the expedition, as well as the celebrations and lecture tours that took place after it returned to Norway in August 1896. The history of the building “Fram”, the first special vessel for polar research, is shown through the extensive correspondence of Nansen with the constructor and the shipbuilder Colin Archer and the drawings of the vessel - from the initial idea to the final version.
