The book reveals and analyzes the philosophical foundations and research paradigms of the concepts of the essence, origin and evolution of nations and nationalism competing in the social sciences, their methodological advantages and disadvantages are evaluated. A new, socio-philosophical, the basis of interdisciplinary synthesis is proposed, which allows us to offer an acceptable understanding of the main definitions of the theory of nations and nationalism acceptable for most specialists.
