The hero of this novel - “The Hero of our Time”, a person who has passed the harsh school of life - returns home after prolonged wandering and finds himself alone with a cypoal and unpredictable reality for him, in a new country, so dissimilar to that former. What is his homeland now? The writer answers this question, showing Russia of the 90s of the last century without embellishment, in which natural selection, alas, is not always Darwin, because very often it survives not the strongest, but the meanest.

on the example of many destinies, the threads of which unexpectedly and bizarre intertwine into the romance, the author gives a cut of society at the junction of time, in the era of reforms and shocks. The writer shows a person’s struggle for faith, draws a wide historical canvas, in which two forces are faced with: clans, by hook or by crook, tearing to power, and respectable people who seek to find their own path in this life, without enduring the laws of good and justice.

This romance criticism dubbed the encyclopedia of Russian life in the first half of the 90s of the 20th century. Roman among other awards was awarded the Association of Best Bestseller Association of 2004, as well as the Literary Newspaper Awards and the Russian State Library as the best book of the year in the nomination of action -packed prose in 2005, and in 2006 was published in Paris in French. Based on this work on Russian television, an eight -series pink film was shot.
