The novel “Naulak” tells about the search for a white man of legendary precious stone in India of the colonial period. The adventurer goes to India to find for his bride the legendary black gem named Naulak. In his journey, he will face local residents, a little Raja and try to achieve an ambitious goal. But, as always with Kipling, a purely adventure story raises much more important issues - the topic of the confrontation of the West and the East.
