White -eyed come from the forest on the other side of the river. Almost indistinguishable from people, they sometimes wander into the village, knock on the houses and sit down to warm up to the hearth. You can’t refuse. They can help, or can harm, but more often observe. Once every few years, white -eyed are led to the child’s forest as a board of peaceful proximity. They only take “unnecessary” ones: there are always orphans, sick, wretched, extra mouths in the village.
