"New Atlantis." Western geopolitics on land and at sea. Spickman N., Schmitt K.
Nicholas Spickman (1893 - 1943) is considered one of the founders of American geopolitics. The speaker is characterized by a utilitarian approach, a clear desire to develop an effective geopolitical formula, with the help of which the United States can soon achieve world domination. This can be achieved, Speakman says, creating a special geopolitical reality, a “new Atlantis”, connected by a commonality of Western culture, the ideology of liberalism and democracy.
Karl Schmitt (1888 - 1985) is a German geopolitical who had a huge impact on the development of development European political theory of the XX - XXI centuries. In contrast to the “Atlantists”, he believed that the main struggle for world domination is not at sea, but on land, and developed the theory of “Nomos” - a new order of continental management.
Despite the difference in the views of Spickman and Schmitt, many researchers believe that these are just ways to achieve the same goal - the Western power over the world. Today, the Russian reader for the first time is given the opportunity to make his own opinion on this subject.
