I was lucky. For 12 years of marine expeditions on the ships “Academician Mstislav Keldysh” and “Professor Shtokman”, I was able to go along the entire eastern - Karsk - coast of the new land, to visit many of the bays of the archipelago, different in terms of breadth, nature and character of the glaciers opening in them. This made it possible to take photographs and show the new land to those who were not there, and those few who were there remind you of the amazing feelings that they experienced, stepping on the cold coast of this distant land. There are no people in the photographs. This is intentionally. I wanted you to see this northern land as the discoverers saw it almost 1000 years ago - in a fog, under low gray clouds, when the nature around it seems plain, and in a rare sunshine, when the paints come from, they shine, they shine. Lichens on black stones are painted with gold, and the sea, reflecting the sky and glaciers, is filled with blue or turquoise. At the beginning of the last century, the famous Nenets artist Tyko Pick began to draw a new land as a boy. This amazing archipelago will always attract people who feel the beauty, originality and magic of the nature of the Arctic.
