New stans by August: “From love...” and other poems. Brodsky I.
The New Stans by August included the most famous poems about the love of Joseph Brodsky (1940 - 1996), the great poet, the Nobel laureate in literature. He himself wrote like this: “This is a collection of poems for twenty years with one, more or less, addressee. And to a certain extent, this is the main matter of my life. ” The image hiding behind the initials of M. B. can be put on a par with a beautiful lady in the poetry of the Middle Ages, Beatrice in the works of Dante, Laura in the verses of Petrarch. In Russian poetry of the 20th century, “New Stances by August” continue the poetic tradition to which poems about the love of M. Yu. Lermontov and E. A. Baratynsky, “Denisyevsky cycle” by F. I. Tyutchev and “Panaevsky” Cycle N. A. Nekrasova, and later the love lyrics of O. Mandelstam and B. Pasternak. This also includes poems written on historical and mythological plots that brought the poet a truly world recognition.
