Night shadows: a collection of short stories. Verdenberg M.
Ajax-Press Publishing House represents the second book of “Microthetics” of the Swiss writer Melchior Verdenberg “Night Shadows”. In his new collection, Melchior Verdenberg again goes to the "jungle" of the daily life of Switzerland. His stories talk about household dramas, whether it is a fatal accident, crime or misfortune that occurred through his own fault. The storyteller, good -natured or evil, mocking or thoughtful, prone to pessimism or wanting to just entertain, made up a colorful kaleidoscope of the imperfections of human nature from twenty -two short short stories. This is not detective literature in its purest form, although we are talking about crimes. However, the non-criminal component still sets the tone. Rather, this is the work of the passions of human and the grin of fate. Under the pseudonym of Melchior Verdenberg, the famous Swiss lawyer Hans Baumgartner is hidden. He became a lawyer two decades ago, having previously had experience in the position of district prosecutor Zurich. He was a judge of the Military Court of Appeal, was engaged in cases related to drugs and sex business, economic crimes. So the background, which allows you to write about the mysterious and criminal affairs with knowledge, is quite solid at Melchior Verdenberg. However, as a lawyer, he assures: any coincidence of his stories with real events and people is an accident. Verdenberg stories are short, written by a deliberately cold language, behind which a subtle irony is guessed, this is not only a trifle that helps the reader have fun, plunging into the world of other people's passions, crimes and punishments. They make them think.
