Notes about the Gallic War. Caesar G.Yu.
Gai Julius Caesar (100-44 BC), with the reign of which the recent years of the Roman Republic are associated not only as a brilliant politician and a decisive commander, capable of crossing any Rubicon. His name, which served as the new Julian calendar, was turned into the title of Roman emperors; Subsequently, Russian words “king”, “cesar” and the German “kaiser” came from him. Caesar went down in history as the largest Roman writer. The creation of this great ruler is an extraordinary achievement of Latin prose. His notes on the Gallic War, successfully influencing the formation of public opinion, represent great historical value. No wonder another famous Roman - the great speaker of Cicero gave the following assessment to Caesar's notes: “They are naked, straight and beautiful, all kinds of speech jewelry were removed from them, like clothes... There is nothing more pleasant for history, like a pure and pleasant brevity.”
