“I am learning to see” - one of the first entries in the diary of Malirids Brigge, a young Danish, who came to Paris. The poor quarters and overnight stays, the roar of trams, exhaustion and hopelessness - this is what Malta sees. He is going to become a writer, to express what he saw in the diary, this is necessary in order to maintain integrity. However, the hero is unable to connect his life with the lives of others, turning inside out, dissecting, peering and listening, he says himself at eternal loneliness. Roman of the Austrian poet R.M. Rilke is the top of his prosaic skill. Realism is dissected by the paintings of Cezanne, and before us is a modernist novel, a rhythmized prose.
