Notes from the Underground
The collection includes three works: the story “Notes from the underground” (1864), “Eternal husband” (1870) and the story “Bobok” (1873). “Notes from the underground” is probably the most prophetic of all Dostoevsky’s works. In it, the writer largely anticipated the ideas of the twentieth century, including Prose of Camus and Sartre, for the first time showed that irisial, not amenable to understanding, the beginning could be more significant and powerful than the rational. “Eternal husband” is an amazing psychological portrait of a deceived husband, tormented by the most contradictory feelings: anger at the late wife, love for their common child and the desire to take his anger, hatred of the offender who seduced his wife, and good feelings for a person when- then an ex -friend. “Bobok” is an evil satire that ridicules human vices in a grotesque form, which even death cannot eradicate.
