A popular joke says that at the end of the 19th century, the most writers were released by medical institutes.

Here is Vikenty Veresaev (1867-1945), a contemporary of Chekhov and Bulgakov, was also a doctor with a literary gift. He transferred his hard labor experience to the pages of the story “Notes of a doctor”, which immediately after the release in 1901 caused a large public resonance. And although it seems that medicine has gone far ahead since then, the questions that the author raised always remain relevant.
