In the next volume of illustrated collected works of Alexander Dumas, a complete translation of the famous “Notes of the Fencing Teacher” is included. This is one of the first novels about the Decembrists in world literature. His translation and publication were immediately banned in tsarist Russia. The abbreviated version of the book appeared in Russian only in the 20th century, by the way, having a rather tangible influence on the script of the film “Star of captivating happiness”. No less curious fact is that the main character of the novel, the master of Augusten Grisier, was one of the teachers of fencing not only Dumas himself, but also his great namesake - Alexander Pushkin.
