Anatoly Fedorovich Koni (1844–1927) - the famous Russian lawyer, state and public figure, writer. Throughout his life, he was led by the desire to put into practice the ideas of judicial reform, begun in Russia in 1864 (in particular, it was based on the principles of procedural independence of judges, a single court for all classes, public proceedings, etc.). Being already at old age, he wrote: “I lived my life so that I have nothing to blush for... I loved my people, my country, served them as I could.”
Over the years of his professional activity, Anatoly Fedorovich Koni had the opportunity to occupy various positions in the Russian judicial system, including the highest: he was the prosecutor of the St. Petersburg District Court, the Vice-Director of the Department of the Ministry of Justice, the chief prosecutor of the Criminal Cassation Department Senate. He led the investigation of complex, confusing cases, acted as the prosecutor in the most serious matters. About the most remarkable trials from their legal practice A.F. Koni with his inherent literary talent told in articles and essays that compiled the cycle “Notes of the Judicial Worker”.
