The author of this monumental labor, Solomon Efimovich Kipnis, spent decades for research to make the most detailed necropolis - a set about the burials of the Novodevichy Monastery and the cemetery. Unfortunately, the book did not include the latest burials, but even supplemented and modified materials of the 1998 publication are of considerable value and make it possible to get acquainted with a huge amount of information.

The book is equipped with a convenient search apparatus: a plan of plots, a name index of buried and sculptors.
