Yehuda Amihai is one of the most famous Israeli poets and translators of the second half of the 20th century, the laureate of the Israeli Prize, the Byalik literary prize, the Jerusalem Prize and many other Israeli and international awards. He participated in the battles of World War II as part of the Jewish brigade of the British army, and then in the Israeli war for independence.
