The monograph discusses close -term methods for solving nonlinear regional problems with an unknown (free) border. A classic example of tasks of this type is the problem of Stefan in theory of thermal conductivity. Examples of tasks with a free border in thermophysics, hydrodynamics, elastic theory, plasma physics are given. The main computational methods for solving stationary problems for the elliptical equations of the second and fourth order are considered: methods of consistent clarification of the unknown border, transformation of the regions, methods of fine. Separately highlighted the class of reverse tasks with a free border. Examples of the numerical solution of applied tasks illustrating the possibilities of developed methods are given.
