Obesity and associated diseases. Conservative and surgical treatment

Based on many years of practical experience and generalization of world achievements of science, the authors set out modern views on obesity as a comorbid pathology, its etiopathogenesis and various methods of treatment. The serious advantage of the book is its comprehensive and systemic nature, since for the first time in Russian literature the treatment of obesity is considered from the perspective of not only therapeutic, but also surgical approaches, which required the involvement of more than 10 medical specialties to the author’s team. At the same time, the section of surgical treatment of obesity was prepared by a group of authors under the leadership of Professor Yu.I. Sedletsky, who stood at the origins of domestic bariatric surgery in the USSR and created the most famous domestic school of specialists in surgical treatment of obesity and other components of the metabolic syndrome.
