Oblomov. Ordinary history. Goncharov I.
The book included two immortal novels by Ivan Alexandrovich Goncharov, one of the classics of Russian literature.
“Ordinary History” (1847) - his debut novel. It unfolds an eternal plot about the collapse of illusions. A romantic young man comes from the province to the capital, full of hopes, dreaming of the glory of a writer, of friendship and bright love. In St. Petersburg, he acts “under the wing” of his uncle, a man with great life experience, who is skeptical of exalted dreams and aspirations. The conflict of two generations, two characters, two worldviews in “ordinary history” are shown with the inherent subtle humor and soulful lyrism inherent in Goncharov.
The novel “Oblomov” (1859) is the pinnacle of the work of I. A. Goncharov. The writer showed an amazing and paradoxical type of Russian person, making his name a household name. The novel caused an ambiguous reaction of critics. N. A. Dobrolyubov saw in Oblomov a symbol of the inertness of Russia and a sign of time. And, for example, A.V. Druzhinin wrote: “He is dear to us as an independent and pure nature, which is quite independent of that scholastic-modest and monk, which stains a huge majority of people...” Some interpreted the novel as a satirical work, others noted in It is both the lyrical principle and subtle psychologism. This original and one -as -aus book still causes disputes.
“Each of the characters created by Goncharov is an ideal generalization of human nature,” said D. S. Merezhkovsky. Goncharov’s novels are excellent examples of Russian prose of the mid -19th century, which have not lost their relevance for modern readers.
