, 7 years after the first edition of the “Obstetrics” textbook for students of obstetric schools of medical schools (colleges), significant changes have occurred in the organization of obstetric assistance to Russian women. From the standpoint of preparation of midwives preparing for independent work, this was marked by the created procedure for the provision of obstetric and gynecological assistance (Order of the M3 of the Russian Federation No. 572), new sanitary standards and rules (SanPiN-2010), and most importantly, the creation of a three-level system of obstetric care and regional perinatal centers , radically changed the work of both doctors and midwives. The second edition illuminates these changes and implemented technologies regulated by the specified documents. Particular attention was paid to the work of midwives at the feldsher-obstetric centers, the network of which in the country has been increasing due to the resuming work and newly created in recent years as the main institutions that carry out primary medical care, including the obstetric population of the country. The textbook was compiled in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard “Obstetric Case”.

The preparation of the publication was attended by specialists who were studied and taught at secondary medical educational institutions, teachers of medical universities, specialists of specialized research institutes and organizers of the obstetric care service of the Russian Federation.

The textbook is intended for students of medical schools and colleges studying in the specialty "Obstetro" can also be useful for midwives and students of medical schools and colleges studying in other specialties.
