The Tale “Old Man Hottabych” was published in 1938 and has since become one of the most beloved children's books. Already several generations of boys and girls of our country are happy to read about the adventures of a genie who fell from the time of King Solomon to the Soviet country of the late 1930s. And it doesn’t matter that the book was written almost a hundred years ago, because the story of how a pioneer Volka Kostalkov caught an old jug in the river and released a genie, truly kind, cheerful fascinating. It was translated into many languages, including into English, German, Czech, Bulgarian, Chinese.
Its author Lazar Iosifovich Ginzburg, who wrote under the pseudonym L. Lagin, composed several more books, but thanks to the “old man Hottabych "his name will forever remain in the history of children's literature.
