It all starts with the story of Katya - a girl dying of hunger during the blockade of Leningrad. Katya is saved thanks to the evacuation in a relatively safe Tashkent, which became the second home for thousands of Soviet citizens who fled from the Nazi invasion. The girl Katya gets into the Tashkent criminal environment, turns into a talented swindler and "works" in the Tashkent markets. Later, her daughter Vera is born out of marriage. Little faith does not suspect the mother’s business... The girl is growing surrounded by people of different nationalities - Russians, Uzbeks, Jews, Ukrainians... Once she saves a drunkard who is called by Uncle Misha, and it is he who guesses an artistic talent and begins to develop him. Later, Vera will survive in the destructive Tashkent earthquake of 1966 and will become a world -famous artist.
