Umberto Eco is the famous Italian writer, the author of the world bestsellers “The Name of Rosa” and “Pendulum Foucault”, the winner of the largest literary awards, the founder of scientific and art magazines, a specialist in semiotics, and a cultural historian. His works are translated into forty languages. Essays included in this book were born from the report “The problem of an open work”, read at the XII International Philosophical Congress in 1958. In 1962, they appeared under the heading “open work” and were supplemented by a thorough study on Joyce’s poetics, where the author I tried to trace the development of this artist. This collection continues the series of scientific works of Umberto Eco published in Russian.
