Nagai Kafu (1879-1959) - one of the most famous Japanese writers of "New Age". Interest in his personality and creativity does not run out in Japan to this day, and his main books have been translated into all European languages. “Opponents” are perhaps the most striking description of the Gake of the “era of electricity and phones” in all Japanese literature. Nagai Kafu knew his heroines in life perfectly - for some time he was even married to the famous geisha. Until the last days of his long life, Kafu remained a regular in the world of entertainment, but the geisha for him were not only the best interlocutors and not only the most desired women. He saw in them the keepers of a special layer of Japanese urban culture, and he felt himself the heir to the centuries -old tradition, the singer of the “world and flowers”, as the entertainment quarters called in China and Japan.
