Since 1936, in his death in 1960, Professor Archimandrite Kiprian (Kern) taught at the department of pastoral theology at the Orthodox St. Sergius Institute in Paris. The course of his lectures was first published in Paris in 1957. Repeatedly reprinted since then, he now remains, perhaps, the best of the existing courses of the pastoral theology, more than many oriented to the problems of today.
In this publication, the course is accompanied by a detailed vitality of the father of Cyprian, compiled by Metropolitan Hilarion ( Alfeev), as well as letters to the archim himself. Cyprian to her spiritual daughter Marina Fennell.
