Outcasts. Hugo V.
We present to your attention the book “The outcasts” of Victor Hugo
Roman-epic, Viktor Hugo, “The outcasts” (1862), is a huge text, without which it is impossible to imagine the spiritual history of the 19th century. In essence, this is the “war and the world” of the great French classic, only here it is reflected in the confrontation of the enemy armies, but the war, which is conducted by good and evil in the human soul and in society. When creating the “outcast” of the author, he said, first of all, three topics were worried: “The oppression of a man... a woman’s fall due to hunger, wilting a child due to the darkness of ignorance”, which was reflected in the stories of the main characters: convicts Jean Valzhan, Fantina and Kozette. The fantastically twisted adventurous plot makes you follow with the inseparable attention of the events that unfold on the streets of old Paris, in slums and barricades. It is no accident that in the 20th century there are dozens of film adaptations of the “outcast” - from the dumb tape “on the barricades” (1907) to the last film of Tom Huper.
