The book of the famous writer Yuri Loshchits talks about the Ukrainian philosopher, the Enlightener, the poet and musician of the XVIII century Grigory Savvich Savvich. The Cossack son of the pan was not only the first in the Russian Empire by an original thinker, but also the singer of the royal chapel, a home teacher, a traveler who traveled not only Russia, but also many countries of Europe. Dying in poverty, he bequeathed to write on his grave: "The world caught me, but did not catch me." The influence of the pans was experienced by many outstanding figures of Russian and Ukrainian culture, in Soviet times he was considered a “peasant democrat” and “folk enlightener”, and in modern Ukraine it was considered as the founder of national philosophy. The book by Yu. Loshchits, for the first time published in 1972 in the ZhZL series, is rightfully considered the best biography of the Russian Socrates, as contemporaries called the pan.
