Poetic collections of Joseph Brodsky “Stop in the desert”, “End of the beautiful era”, “Part of speech”, “New Stans by August”, “Urania” and “Landscape with Flood” for a long time remained inaccessible to Russian readers, except "Samizdat." In the 1970-1990s, these books were published by the American publishing house "Ardis". Brodsky gratefully wrote that Karl Profer, one of the founders of Ardis, managed to maintain the continuity of the development of Russian literature and its high significance, to save many Russian writers and poets from oblivion.
Part of speech. For the first time published in 1977, it includes poems written by Brodsky in the last months of life in their homeland and in the early years of emigration. The New Stances collection by August was published in 1983, it included poems of 1962-1982.
In this publication, such well -known works as “Letters to the Roman Friend”, “Love Cape Cape” are printed in this publication. , “Sitting”, “Twenty sonnets to Mary Stuart”, “From nowhere with love, above Martrab...”, “Winter Post” and others.
