Paul Gauguin is one of the outstanding and brightest representatives of post -impressionism. However, Gauguin was not only a painter, but also a sculptor, a woodcarker, an engraver, critic and writer. His achievements as an artist - a new understanding of color and its connection with light, a special attitude to the lines and contour, the desire for the maximum simplification and at the same time to highlight individual, most vivid details, work on a flat image - had a significant impact on all art of the 20th century.
