“Pedagogical poem” is the most famous work of the Soviet teacher A. Makarenko. The book tells about the creation in 1920 under the Poltava Children's Labor Colony named after M. Gorky, whose pupils were young street children and offenders. Having no experience in working with difficult adolescents, the author develops his own system based on three principles: labor, play and influence of the team. It is the team who should form the personality of each child, teach him to bear responsibility for himself and comrades, to direct and maintain in individual development. With respect and discipline, the teacher gradually gains the trust of his pupils, and socially useful labor inspires and unites the guys.
During the narrative, the author does not hide his doubts and fears, shares his thoughts and reasoning, recognizes and analyzes errors, which makes His experience is understandable and close to the modern teacher.
After the release of the book, the educational novel became a classic of pedagogical literature, and the author’s methodology was guided by more than one generation of domestic teachers.
