One of the most prominent writers of the “second wave” of emigration Boris Nikolaevich Shiryaev (Moscow, 1889-San Remo, 1959), the author of the famous certificate of the Solovetsky camp, the book “Inadvertent Lamp”, wrote a lot and brightly on historical topics. In this publication, for the first time and as fully as possible, his articles on Russian history are collected - from the formation of Ancient Rus' to the post -war era. The writer aimed at covering the most important points of development of the nation, protecting the fallen empire from critical attacks. Texts collected from inaccessible emigrant periodicals are published for the first time in Russia and accompanied by scientific commentary.
