This volume included the second and third books of the novel by Alexei Tolstoy “Peter the First”. The second book of the novel shows the first steps of Peter's transforming activity, the defeat of the Russian army near Narva and its first victories over the Swedes and ends with the founding of St. Petersburg in 1703. In the third book, the reader again unfolds the events of the Northern War until the capture of Narva by the Russians.
