Vsevolod Vladimirovich Krestovsky (1840-1893) - a famous Russian poet, prose writer and literary critic. The novel "Petersburg slums" is the most significant work of the writer. The description of the external, sophisticated life of St. Petersburg and its invisible, but true, hidden from the outsider of life, creates a bright social portrait of all Russian society. This volume included the first or fourth parts of the novel.
