“Empire I” is the first part of Andrei Bitov’s book “The Empire in Four Dimensions”. It included: the cycle of stories “Pharmaceutical Island”, the story “Danim (double)” and the novel-Punctic “Fleving Monks”, first published in a new composition.
Andrei Bitov (b. 1937) - the largest Russian writer, master of intellectual prose, laureate of state, Pushkin and many other awards, president of the Russian Pen -Center. His first works came out at the turn of the 60s. And in the late 70s, it was practically stopped printing (after participating in the infamous Almanac of Metropol and the publication of the novel Pushkin’s House in the United States). When times changed, A. Bitov’s books began to be published both in Russia and abroad, largely determining the picture of modern world prose.
