The textbook reveals the specifics of the philosophy of law as intellectual activity aimed at rational comprehension of legal reality. The history of philosophical and legal knowledge is described, issues of legal methodology, ontology of law, and the modern legal picture of the world are disclosed. The issues of epistemology are presented taking into account the relationship of the philosophy of law with axiology, on the one hand, and the latest socio -humanitarian paradigms on the other. The publication emphasized the understanding of law as the result of the purposeful activity of a person who forms the necessary conditions for regulating social relations, taking into account the existing and changing values of the modern world.
