Pilgrimage. Shmelev I.S.
The family of a wonderful Russian writer I. S. Shmelev (1873–1950), forced to go abroad in 1922 and live in a foreign land until the end of his days, was distinguished by patriarchy and edema religiosity. An integral feature of this patriarchate was a patriotic feeling, ardent love for the native land, its history, a heroic past.
All this was reflected in the works of I. S. Shmelev. The old Moscow life (“Pogorish”), the icon painter for the young lady and her sudden death (“unquenchable cup”), death and suffering during the Crimean War (“the Sun of the Dead”). In these works, the world of Russian man is revealed, whose life is imbued with the Orthodox spirit and warmed by Christian faith. The book will be interesting to people with church and only starting work of churching.
